Caol Ila 13 Year Old 2009 vintage Islay single malt Scotch whisky was double matured in refill bourbon barrels and then re-racked in Sassicaia wine barrels for finishing. It was bottled in November 2022 and the total worldwide outturn was 3550 bottles.
Nose: Smokey ash, citrus, vanilla and salty caramels.
Palate: Oily mouthfeel with green apples, red berry fruits, spices such as ginger and black pepper. Salted caramel flows through from the nose.
Finish: Long finish with that Caol Ila smokey ash ... sweetness with a bit of tobacco.
