This initial, 1/2 cask expression from Killowen represents only the first half of a two-part exclusive cask release for the Alberta (and Canadian) market. Part Two is currently being matured in a series of unique casks for a future release. Here are the tasting notes from noted Irish whiskey expert - Sean Kincaid.
Nose: Waves of cocoa, caramel, vanilla and honey covered tropical fruits. The nose on this whiskey can only be described as special.
Palate: The first thing I noticed was the absence of youthful notes. The mouthfeel is thick and oily and coats the entire mouth with a mix of baking spices, smoked paprika, and allspice along with toffee, honey drenched baklava and dessert pastries with freshly melted butter spreading across their surface.
Finish: Long and satisfying - with the palate flavours carrying through to the end.
