Amrut Spectrum 004
Regular price $175.00
After a five-year hiatus from the marketplace, Amrut is once again releasing a rare and unusual Spectrum 004 bottling. Aged for an unspecified amount of time in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in Amrut's specially constructed 'Spectrum' barrels ... again for an unstated amount of time. These Spectrum barrels are constructed using four types of oak staves in equal proportions: American oak with a Level 3 char, toasted French oak, ex-Oloroso sherry, and ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry - very reminiscent to the 2017 edition. Total worldwide outturn: 6000 bottles.
Nose: Notes of jammy fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, slight sherry funk, chocolate toffee with almonds.
Palate: Thinner mouthfeel than expected with oak wood spices, vanilla, blackberry jam, and coconut cream.
Finish: Long finish with molasses, marzipan from the nose and a whisper of bitter chocolate.
