Carn Mor is an independent bottling arm of Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. In the 2005 the company came under the ownership of Kenny Mackay and former Morrison Bowmore chairman Brian Morrison. Initially bottling Scotch whisky under Carn Mor alongside the production of liqueurs, they founded the Aberagie distillery in Perthshire in 2017. When Brian and son Jamie Morrison took sole ownership they rebranded as Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers in 2020.
This iconic Glen Grant single malt was bottled for the Carn Mor, Celebration of the Cask range. Distilled in April 1994 and set aside to age in a single bourbon barrel for a full 27 years. August 2021, it was bottled up at cask strength. Total outturn was a mere 172 bottles.
Nose: Buttered toast with plum compote, a slight sprinkling of nutmeg and perhaps a trace of tobacco.
Palate: Ripe orchard fruits with spice and citrus peel alongside some peel zest.
Finish: Softly oaky on the finish, plus a hint of mocha coffee.
