Dràm Mòr is the brainchild of husband and wife team Viktorija and Kenny Macdonald. The business started as a training and whisky events business as well as working to open new markets around the world for Independent Scotch whisky producers such as Ian MacLeod Distillers, Arran, Wemyss Malts, Douglas Laing, Speyside Distillers & Borders Distillery. In 2019, due to high demand for small independent bottlings, Viktorija and her husband Kenny decided to start their own brand Dràm Mòr, meaning a Big Whisky translated from Scottish Gaelic. The company now exports unique and bespoke single cask Scotch whiskies to 14 different. The story of Glen Moray begins as the Elgin West Brewery, which had made local ales since 1830, as it transformed into the whisky distillery we know today. The first spirit ran off the stills on 13th September, 1897. Made entirely from local barley, that new make spirit is filled into an unusually wide variety of casks for the time, including Marsala wine and sherry casks.
This month’s selection was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2020 and was finished for 4 months in a Madeira Cask with only 273 bottles available worldwide.
