They’re what keep us grounded and allow us to keep growing. Our roots connect us to family, friends and neighbours… to our histories and our communities.
Lone Pine Distilling has its roots in western Canada, between the Rocky Mountain peaks and sweeping golden prairies of Alberta. The distillery is located in the heart of Edmonton, on the south side of the North Saskatchewan river, tucked away between Calgary Trail and Gateway Boulevard.
Lone Pine Distilling was founded by two close friends, inspired by years of sipping spirits and sharing conversations around the campfire at the cabin, where a lone pine stands watch over the site.
When Alberta’s post-Prohibition legislation was finally updated at the end of 2013 to allow for the existence of micro-distilleries– the dream of operating an independent local distillery became impossible to resist.
We aim to honour and celebrate our Alberta roots by using regionally sourced ingredients, products and services, including the contributions of skilled local producers and craftspeople in our community.
Rocky Mountain Gin evokes the spirit of the Rockies through the fresh flavours of wild bergamot, mint and rosehips– all native to western Canada’s alpine region.
Alongside our feature ingredients, we’ve incorporated goldenrods, lemon and lime peels, a hint of ginger, plus a few other roots and spices to balance the complexity of this one-of-a-kind craft spirit.
The label for our Rocky Mountain Gin was inspired by Alberta’s mountain evergreens and the radiantly bright colour of the juniper pine.
Over 60% of Alberta is covered by forest, with coniferous trees (like the pine) thriving in higher altitudes along the Rocky Mountain range.
