Macaloney's Peated Mac Na Braiche Singlemalt Spirit
Regular price $112.00
Victoria Caledonian Distillery was founded in Saanich, Greater Victoria in 2016 by Scottish expat Graeme Macaloney. Mac Na Braiche is Gaelic for "son of malt" and is made from Canadian barley and is aged in a mix of American and European oak for around 20 months. The new-make underpinning this single malt took “World’s Best” at the prestigious 2020 World Whiskies Awards. This is the first single malt outside of Islay to use Canadian barley peat-smoked to 54 ppm at the distillery in a proprietary soaker-smoker. Traditional peat-smoking processes used on the Scottish island of Islay were recreated at Victoria Caledonia distillery on Vancouver Island. The spirit was then matured in Portuguese red wine barriques.
