The term balance applies to every aspect of this exceptional whisky. Though not a “sherry bomb” in the way that the term is popularly understood, this is still a full-on sherried experience. While it is very much in the style of a sherry cask matured Speyside whisky, it is so much more than that. Cask type is a first fill Sherry butt (Cask #900800) distilled in 2006. Total worldwide outturn: 626 bottles.
Nose: Sherry notes dominate: baking spices, dried fruit, cinnamon and milk chocolate nibs.
Palate: Fruits follow through from the nose. Rum-soaked raisins and a hit of citrus on the mid-palate.
Finish: Long, with cocoa, caramel and a bit of tannin tightness.
