The Gauldrons Sherry Cask
Regular price $110.00
Limit of 1 per household
Occupying a remote location (even by Campbeltown’s standards) on the extreme west coast of Scotland, The Gauldrons literally means “bay of storms”. But, it’s not just the dark storm clouds that set the pulse racing here and set the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. This is where a spider inspired King Robert the Bruce to try, try and try again, having been defeated by his enemies.
This is a sherried variation of The Gauldrons from Douglas Laing - just in time for Christmas! This 100% blended malt is made up of malt whiskies from the Campbeltown region that have been finished in Spanish sherry casks. Once again - impressive stuff from independent bottling experts - the Laing Family!
Nose: Brown sugar, candied apple, a slight maritime note before morphing into salted caramel. Minimal smoke.
Palate: Salted caramel with a delicate smoky note. Roasted malt with hints of fresh, tropical fruits in the background. There is some slight cinnamon and ginger notes but they are supplanted by lavender honey on the back palate.
Finish: Milk chocolate and savoury smokiness ... what could be better.
