10 Essentials American Single Malt is the second annual, limited-edition release from Boulder Spirits. This unique expression is a blend of handpicked casks: ex-Armagnac, Tawny port, PX Sherry, and two American Oak (first fill) for a period of five to six years. At this point the single malts from each of these casks was combined for a 'marrying period' of 8 weeks to create a spice-filled, luscious dram. With the category of American Single Malt Whiskey gaining popularity; Boulder Spirits leads the charge with its Eldorado Springs water, proprietary yeast and imported barley - all distilled and aged against the backdrop of Colorado's altitude and climate. Total worldwide outturn: 1800 bottles.
Nose: Expected more of a raisin influence (given the cask make-up) but aromas of warm applesauce with brown sugar lead the charge.
Palate: Dryness from the tannins of the wine finishes, bold oak spices and tropical fruits. Some honey notes from the new oak.
Finish: Tannic dryness follows through on the medium finish. Fry's cocoa and hint of cinnamon at the very end.
