From one of Scotland's oldest Whisky families - The Morrison Family - who were the previous owners of Bowmore, Auchentoshan and Glen Garioch. Mac-Talla means 'Echo' in Scottish Gaelic and reflects the Morrison family connection to the island of Islay. From the Latin stratum, Strata refers to the many igneous rock formations that are visible along Islay’s rugged shores. This is the second limited edition Fèis Ìle bottling from Mac-Talla, released for the 2023 festival. The Islay single malt Scotch whisky is drawn from 26 Pedro Ximénez sherry-seasoned casks, which give the meaty peat character some jammy red berry and sweet spice notes. Absolutely delicious.
Nose Wafts of smoke and toasted seaweed, with blackberries, and muscovado sugar.
Palate The PX influence gives a barbecue smoke quality to the coastal Islay smoke, with balanced sweetness, raisins, cinnamon spice, and chocolate covered honeycomb.
Finish Tawny marmalade, a touch of liquorice, and lingering smoke.
