The Ardnamurchan Midgie is comprised of 75% unpeated and 25% peated spirit, sourced from 50% ex-American bourbon barrels, 48% Port Barriques, and 2% Sherry casks.
The release was crafted to honour Scotland’s most infamous creature, the Highland Midge.
Ardnamurchan is the first distillery to be opened on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.
As one of the 'greenest' distilleries in Scotland, 100% of the hydro-electric power and cooling waters for the stills are sourced from the nearby Glenmore River. The distillery also uses wood chips from surrounding forests as a fuel source, and a biomass boiler provides hot water to heat the stills.
Local barley, grown on the estate of one of the owners, is used for malt, and the draff is distributed to local area farmers, and the pot ale is used for fertilising their fields.
