This Single Malts of Scotland Caol Ila (Reserve Parcel #10) was distilled in 2010 and matured for 12 years. This 10th parcel from independent bottler Elixir Distillers was created by combining 5 re-charred wine casks, then bottled at 48% ABV.
It's beautifully round and coherent without seeming boring.
Seeking out the finest casks of Scotch has always been at the heart of Elixir Distillers' philosophy. Since 2002, these expressions have been released as The Single Malts of Scotland, a range of superb vintage single malt Scotch whiskies selected for their individual quality and character.
Nose: Rich BBQ smoke and sticky BBQ sauce are tempered by saline notes, reminiscent of wakame seaweed and a hint of tropical juice.
Palate: Rich and buttery in texture. Spanish cured meets with balsamic dressing sit alongside flavours of honeydew melon and watermelon.
Finish: The peat smoke is dark and brooding in the finish with some lovely wood spice and linseed oil.
