In 2017, J&J Spirits launched a retail line of Single Cask Nation products specifically aimed at specialty whisky stores and finer whisk(e)y bars. These products were only available in the United States but are now available in Canada.
Paying homage to Betsy Williamson, Laphroaig's first female distillery manager, this expression was distilled in September 2015 and rested in a recharred Bourbon Hogshead. It displays all the familiar characteristics of this windswept, southern Islay distillery. Total worldwide outturn: 281 bottles.
Nose: Charred oak, red stone fruits, vanilla, the famous Laphroaig adhesive bandage, seaweed and iodine.
Palate: A creamy mouthfeel, malty notes and campfire. Stone fruits from the nose are joined by black currents and chill pepper flakes.
Finish: Long finish with peat smoke. To finish there is salt, leather and an unmistakable sweetness.
