Duncan Taylor Octave Series Brackla 2011
Prix régulier $179.00
Duncan Taylor has experimented with small Octave casks for more than 40 years.
Using Octave casks promotes more wood interaction with the whisky, allowing for a more rapid melding of wood, air and alcohol. A second maturation of roughly four months in Octave casks produces a refined whisky with enhanced hue, taste, form and character.
The flavour profile is invigorated and more sophisticated, resulting in a mature, well-balanced Scotch Whisky.
This rare, independently released Brackla rested for over 10 years in a bourbon cask before being re-casked for 9 months in an Oloroso Sherry Octave for a further 9 months of finishing. Total outturn: 90 bottles.
Nose: Aromas of vanilla, spiced apple, oranges and freshly-baked strudel.
Palate: Notes of candied orange peel, clove and cacao nibs throughout the palate.
Finish: Medium length with the spices carrying through to the end.
