Firkin Teaninich 2009 Tawny Port Cask
Prix régulier $150.00
To create this Firkin Rare Series expression, Firkin Whisky Company's head blender, Mike Collings, began with a single cask of Teaninich that was distilled in 2009 and aging in an ex-bourbon cask. It was then given a second maturation in a custom, double-oak cask. These are hand-made from ex-bourbon staves combined with virgin French oak staves. The resulting double-oak cask is then soaked with Tawny port, causing the wood to absorb the Port's rich fruity flavours. The Teaninich was finally added, and left to mature.
Nose: Blackberry jam and steel cut oats add a little sweetness against a peppery spice aroma.
Palate: Moderately creamy mouthfeel with the blackberries following through from the nose. Vanilla custard with blueberries and Walker's shortbread provide a little savouriness on the back palate.
Finish: Long finish. Berries with vanilla cream, with a hint of Teaninich's herbaceousness coming out at the end.
