The North British grain distillery was built in 1885, financed by Andrew Usher, William Sanderson, John Crabbie and James Watson. It effectively broke the grain spirit monopoly that had been established by the Distillers Company Limited (DCL) (now Diageo).

This elegant grain expression was distilled in 1962 and bottled in 2021, just shy of its 59th birthday. The distillate spent its entire maturation in a single refill American hogshead #16927.

It bears the name Dark Cloud Whisky after Sean Kincaid, a local Edmonton whisky influencer.

Total worldwide outturn: 75 bottles.

Producer's Tasting Notes

Nose:  Sweet and grain-forward. Vanilla, Birds-eye custard, orchard fruit and Pineapple lurking in the background.

Palate: Sweet and rich mouthfeel. Ripe peaches and pineapple, with bitter, dark chocolate on the back palate.

Finish: Not overly long with soft pepper and the wood spices finally making an appearance.
