Jack Wiebers is an independent bottler from Berlin who became known in the whisky scene with a series “Scottish Castles” and the “Old Train Line”.
Knockdhu was built in 1893 and remained in the orbit of Distillers Company Limited (DCL/Diageo) for 90 years, serving as the main malt for many of their blends.
After being shuttered for 5 years, the distillery was purchased by Inver House, who quickly brought a single malt to market called AnCnoc. This two-still distillery is a combination of old and new — utilising a Lauter system for their mash tuns, while also employing wooden washbacks and a worm tub for cooling the distillate.
Total worldwide outturn: 220 bottles
Nose: Dry sherry and grassy An Cnoc spirit. Floral aromas and tart orchard fruit.
Palate: Green apples, citrus zest, and wet hayfields. Dry sherry dominates with nuttiness and milk chocolate on the back palate.
Finish: Short to medium length, with grapefruits, raisins, vanilla and oak spice.
