Na Sia, meaning ‘The Six’ in Gaelic, represents the distillery's unique six cask single malt recipe.
The most common types of casks used to mature Scotch Whisky are ex-Bourbon barrels made from the most prevalent species of North American white oak, Quercus alba. But instead of ex-bourbon casks, ex-rye casks were selected for a spicier black pepper note and more of a butterscotch flavourt. The barrels chosen come from Woodford Reserve distillery.
This single cask was selected by Andrew Dunn of Gold Medal Marketing, specifically for the Alberta market.
Nose: Strong spcy aromas with a hint of ethanol. Once ethanol dissipates, stewed fruits come to the fore.
Palate: Creamy mouthfeel, white pepper, butterscotch and red stone fruits.
Finish: Long and rich with a touch of sweet spice.
