Togouchi Sake Finish is a blended Japanese whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in sake casks from the Sakurao Brewery.
It was aged in a 362-meter-long train tunnel in the small town of Akiota-Togouchi before being bottled at 40% ABV.
Togouchi whisky is produced by the Sakurao Brewery and Distillery Co. (formerly known as the Chugoku Jozo Distillery), which began distilling fruit liqueurs, soju, and sake near Hiroshima in 1918.
Sakurao distils all the malt and grain whiskies used in their blends, making it one of the few Japanese companies producing 100% Japanese whisky.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Nose: Green apple and spices.
Palate: Sweetness of melons and Muscat grapes with an acidity reminiscent of white wine.
Finish: A sweet fragrance with the acidity of white grapes and a smooth malty flavour.
