Jack Daniel’s new Triple Mash Blended Straight Whiskey represents one of the first two permanent expressions in the brand’s new Bonded Series. Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash is a blend of three straight bottled in bond whiskeys: 60% Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye, 20% Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, and 20% Jack Daniel’s American Malt. According to the company “Each expression is distilled in Lynchburg, Tennessee, in the same distilling season, aged to the stipulations of the Bottled in Bond Act, then blended and bottled at (50% ABV).” Although there is no official age statement associated with this release, the Bottled-in-Bond Act states that the whiskey must be aged a minimum of 4 years.
Nose: Typical first-fill oak barrel notes: vanilla, stewed fruit, winter spices and wet oak.
Palate: Combined with a slightly thick mouthfeel, the sweetness of the corn shows initially. This is quickly followed by raspberry jam, dark cherry cola, and marzipan hitting the back palate with ideal intensity.
Finish: The rye spice is prominent on the back palate.
