A single cask release from the Caol Ila distillery located near Port Askaig on the island of Islay. This expression was distilled in 2016, matured for 10 years in a refill American oak ex-bourbon barrel and bottled by independent bottler, Adelphi, in 2026. It should be noted that Adelphi is recognised as Scotland’s most acclaimed bottler of rare single and limited edition single malt whisky and this example is no exception. It is non chill-filtered and is presented without add colour and at natural cask strength. Total worldwide outturn: 1800 bottles.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Nose: Bold and maritime - greasy fishing trawler, smoked kippers, salted caramel, Swedish liquorice and hint of glowing cigar tip.
Palate: Earthy and smoky - freshly turned sod, a dirty wheelbarrow, hoisin, black cherry, hickory-smoked brisket and chipotle.
Finish: Round, full-bodied and assertively smoky.
