Duncan Taylor Battlehill Miltonduff 2011 was bottled by Duncan Taylor after spending 12 years in oak casks.
It is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky that pays homage to the historic Battle Hill near Huntly, Aberdeenshire.
Battle Hill is a landmark steeped in clan skirmishes and Scottish heritage — the site is named after the 14th-century Battle of Slioch, fought during the Wars of Scottish Independence.
Although this expression carries a heavy name, Miltonduff is known for its fresh, floral new make spirit, which produces a charming, lighter single malt after ageing.
Nose: A field of wildflowers, freshly baked oat biscuits and a touch of white pepper.
Palate: Rich toffee apples, candied citrus peel, a zesty sweetness mid-palate with warming spices on the back palate.
Finish: Lingering with notes of sweet oak, floral malt and delicate almond biscuits.
