The whiskies bottled in the Cadenhead’s Enigma series are just that — unusual, hard to quantify, and perhaps even slightly contradictory.
They can be single casks, vattings of multiple casks, blends, blended malts or whatever else that can be found that doesn’t fit into the existing Cadenhead bottling lineup but meets the only essential criteria — they are delicious.
This single malt, Lowland expression, distilled in 2013, was finished in refill Oloroso sherry casks from 2023 until bottling in 2024. It features complex notes including figs, grilled nectarines, buttered wholemeal toast and nutmeg.
Cadenhead's Tasting Notes
Nose: Fruit Salad sweets, figs and walnuts.
Palate: Grilled nectarines, wholemeal toast and butter, cherry fruit leather.
Finish: Caramel, chocolate, orange and nutmeg.
