Garrison Brothers Bourbon - Balmorhea
Regular price $315.00
Earlier this year, Garrison Brother's introduced the beautiful expression called Balmorhea. Round one saw virgin oak barrels from Minnesota cooperage, The Barrel Mill, filled with 57% ABV white dog (clear spirits from the still) and left to age in the hot Texas sun. The spirit was then transferred to a new set of virgin oak 'quarter casks', this time from Louisville's Kelvin Cooperage. Owing to different toast and char levels, each set of barrels contributed its own unique flavours to this magnificent Texas Straight Bourbon. Simply put, this 2-time US Micro Whisky of the Year and San Francisco Double Gold winner is bourbon candy in a bottle.
Nose: Demerara sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and Fry's cocoa powder.
Palate: Surprising smack of cherry followed by the expected vanilla and caramel and chocolate with no hint of bitterness ... rather surprisingly.
Finish: Not long but weighty - no doubt due to the high ABV. Very viscous at the end.
