It has been over four years since the GlenAllachie Distillers Company was formed, bringing the distillery back into private ownership. The distillery has released only very special expressions as an extension to the core range.
Master Distiller, Billy Walker, has worked tirelessly on perfecting the 15 year old expression since day one, evaluating casks, specifically PX and Oloroso puncheons and hogsheads to deliver complete depth and finish.
Without question, there is a great deal of pride in the presentation of this crown jewel — GlenAllachie 15.
Nose: Rhubarb, cranberry and strawberries. Dried tobacco, hoisin sauce, bubble gum and a touch of a metallic characteristic. Water reveals chocolate and pastry dough.
Palate: Big sherry arrival with raisins, prunes and maple syrup. Winter spices and wood. Dark chocolate and coffee.
Finish: Coffee, Turkish delight and just a hint of flaky sea salt.
