High West Midwinter Night's Dram 2023

At High West, they consider whiskey an indispensable part of making it through the long cold winter. One taste of A Midwinter Night's Dram alongside a cozy fire will surely transport you to a dreamlike state. This limited release whiskey is a sumptuous marriage of their Rendezvous Rye finished in both port and French oak barrels. The rye forms a beautiful base of vanilla, caramel and cinnamon; the port barrels enhance with plums and dried fruits; the French oak provides a spice accent. A Midwinter Night's Dram tastes like a proper Christmas plum pudding with lovely mulling spices, dried fruits, and crème anglaise.

Mash Bill:   
95% rye, 5% barley malt from MGP;
80% rye, 20% malted rye from HWD

Distiller's Notes:

Nose: Poached pears, dried cherry, star anise, nutmeg, spiced Christmas cookie, dark chocolate mocha, cinnamon ginger cake, leaves on the forest floor

Palate: Abounding with fig, cranberry, dark plum jam on rye toast, gingerbread, sipping chocolate, brandied cherries, winter-spiced moha, French oak spice

Finish:  Luxardo® cherry at the bottom of a Manhattan cocktail
