The Maury Cask Matured limited edition was aged for the full term of its maturation in ex-Maury fortified wine casks.
Maury is one of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée for fortified wines (Vin Doux Naturel) in the Rousillon area, near Perpignan in France.
Kilchoman Maury Cask Matured is a non-age statement expression that was aged in 19 Maury wine butts before being vatted for this release. Total worldwide outturn: 15,000 bottles.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Initial peat smoke and ash. This gives way to citrus and orchard fruit like apricots and oranges.
Palate: Soft and creamy mouthfeel. Smoke, peat, sea salt and a hint of nuttiness. Adding a drop of water brings out the flavours even more.
Finish: Medium to long finish with peat smoke dominating.
