Distilling at Lindores Abbey began over a millennium ago, with the earliest written reference in Scotland to Scotch Whisky (or Aqua Vitae) appearing in the Exchequer Roll in 1494.
In 2017, spirit started flowing once again from copper stills at Lindores Abbey Distillery, and the first single malt whisky was released in 2021.
Lindores Thiron 2024 is aged in red wine barriques, bourbon casks, and French virgin oak from the Thiron-Gardais area. Giving credit where it is due, Lindores replanted oak trees in that region of France to replace the trees used to make the casks for this expression.
Nose: Gingerbread, plums in syrup and vanilla pastry custard filling.
Palate: Burnt caramel sugars, dark stone fruits, clove, nutmeg, and black pepper. Oak spice announces at the end.
Finish: Medium length with drying tannins.
