The Lismore range of Speyside single malts was originally named after the Inner Hebridean island sandwiched between Mull and the mainland. Although two illicit stills have since been found on the island, there is no record of legal whisky distilling ever having taken place. Created by William Lundie & Co., which came to prominence under the guidance of brothers John and Willie Lundie during the mid-20th century, Lismore is today bottled using the same recipes handed down by the Lundie family. A limited edition 21 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Lismore range, drawn from Sherry hogsheads. Though the bottlers don't disclose which distillery in Speyside this whisky came from, it's hard to ignore the similarities between this dram and a very famous Speyside distillery owned by J&G Grant.
Nose: The aroma is light with notes of hot-cross buns, black pepper, burnt brûlée sugar, and complex woods.
Palate: The flavours are warm and delicate with vanilla custard, steeped cherries hinting at Sherry wood, and cinnamon.
Finish: The finish smoothly rolls on the tongue with fudge and dried cherries.
