Lochlea operated as a dairy farm until 2014, when the new owners decided that for a farm of this size to be viable, they needed to do something very different. In 2015, 50 acres of malting barley were planted and soon after the decision was made to build a farm distillery.
Construction began in 2017, licenses were acquired and in August 2018 whisky production began on the very lands that Robbie Burns worked during the last half of the 18th century.
Nose: Marzipan and cereal grain.
Palate: Sweet, sherry, There is a sharpness that accompanies the sweet sherry notes. Creamy but not complex
Finish: Medium finish with bitter, dark chocolate notes.
