This Maltbarn Ardmore was distilled in 2003 and rested in an ex-sherry cask for 18 years before being bottled at 51.9% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colour.
All Ardmore whisky is moderately peated, and much of it is used for blended whisky and limited-run distillery releases. Nevertheless, it is highly sought after by independent bottlers.
Founded in 2012 by Martin Diekmann, Maltbarn is a family-run independent bottler on the North Sea coast in northern Germany. The company was started after the Diekmanns relocated to a farm with a substantial barn, which inspired the name (though it has never been used for malt storage or processing).
The photographs on Maltbarn's labels are captured on-site, showcasing the location’s natural beauty or something of significance to the brand's identity.
