Glen Moray started life as West Brewery in Elgin, run by Robert Thorne & Sons. In 1897, it was converted into a distillery with two stills.
Surviving handwritten ledgers show the first spirit run was made on September 13th, 1897, using local barley. This new make spirit was filled into a wide variety of casks, an unusual practice for the time.
Hunter Laing’s Old Malt Cask was created for single malt connoisseurs. Each month, the Hunter Laing tasting panel reviews the company stocks and, after careful consideration, selects only the highest-quality casks. This single cask expression was distilled in January 2007, aged in refill hogshead, and bottled in 2022.

Nose: Apples, caramel with lingering oak notes
Palate: Orange and green apples followed by peppery spices in quick succession
Finish: Medium length, oak and spices
