Port Askaig 100 Proof Islay Single Malt

Port Askaig is a range of Islay single malt whiskies that embodies the unique spirit of Islay and its people. Its character brings together the robust smokiness and soft fruitiness found in this beguiling island. The range has been developed to appeal to the most discerning of whisky connoisseurs while also appealing to the novice whisky drinker. They have selected exceptional casks of Islay single malt and created a range that we believe will become recognized as an Islay classic.

A core expression, Port Askaig 100° Proof is a cask-strength single malt with notes of sweet fruit, peat smoke and minerality, making it a benchmark Islay whisky and great everyday peaty dram. 

Nose: Essence of Caol Ila. Smoked ham, sweet peat, charred BBQ'd meat, grassy, some dried herbs and a little green malt. Lemon sherbet and boiled sweets. 

Palate: Thick, dense and warm wood smoke, but it's not too dominant, it's gentle and inviting. Crispy smoked bacon and bacon grease, hot wood ash and warm spices. Sweet herbal peat, and a little more of that lemon sherbet from the nose.

Finish: Medium-long length. Hot wood ash and chilli spice, tapers quickly to sweet peat, lemon zest and some earthy dried herbs.
