With older, reasonably priced single malts becoming harder and harder to source, Whisky Drop is pleased to have obtained a small number of Glenrothes 30 year from the independent bottler, Single Malts of Scotland (Elixir). Distilled in October 1989 and bottled in January 2020, this gem was aged in a Bourbon hogshead (cask 18166) and the total outturn was 144 bottles. This is not your typical 'sherried' Glenrothes ... the true Glenrothes DNA shines through with this cask treatment.
Nose: Apricot syrup. Vanillins and caramel. Dense and oily but rounded.
Palate: Sweet and fruity. White grapes, apples and Dole pineapple slices. Malty notes and yellow cake in the mid-palate. Finally a hint of ginger.
Finish: Long, bittersweet and malty. Lingering grassy notes.
