Ken Usami, who also founded the craft beer brewery called Niigata Beer 20 years ago in the same town. As an innovator by heart, Mr. Usami was the first brewer to apply secondary bottle fermentation and aging in Niigata Beer. As an experienced brewer, Mr. Usami dreams of creating a local whisky distillery that will be able to showcases the quality of local pure water and serves the passionate community of spirit lovers. In 2018, Mr. Usami obtained the first whisky license for Niigata thus beginning his journey to becoming a distiller. While the distillery was still under construction, Mr. Usami wanted to experiment with blending world whiskies for unique flavours of Japan and the first expressions of Mizunara Oak finished were born.
Nose: Wet forest floor, vanilla and lemon blossom alongside zesty orange peels.
Palate: Terry's orange milk chocolate, earthy oak, coffee and vanilla pod.
Finish: A lingering oaky finish with hints of stone fruit.
