Glencadam first opened in 1825, in the ancient city of Brechin. This was the year the first horse=drawn omnibuses were established, the first modern railway opened and London became the largest city in the world. Also just a little more than a year after the excise act of 1823 legalized distilling. Today, Glencadam is the only distillery in the County of Angus, an area of the Highlands Region. The name 'Glencadam' comes from the the area known as 'The Tenements of Caldhame.' The Whisky Agency was founded in Germany by Carstein Ehrlich, the founder of the Whisky Fair, one f the world's most renowned whisky gatherings. The first show took place in 2002 and in recent times has become the largest festival(both in size and selection of whiskies offered) in the world. Ehrlich's experience selecting and sourcing casks for limited and exclusive Whisky Fair bottlings led him to start his venture as an Independent Bottler under the name 'The Whisky Agency' in 2008. After spending 8 years maturing in PX Sherry Butts, this particular selection in being shared by three retailers in the world, Whisky Drop, Casa De Vino(Melbourne) and a retailer in Belgium , each getting only a few dozen bottles.
Nose: Graham cracker, honeyed oats, browned butter.
Palate: Red berry crumble, stewed fruit, honey with hints of cigar ash.
Finish: Again the graham cracker returns, oil and soft lingering finish...
