Writers’ Tears Double Oak, is a blend of the two premium whiskey styles aged in two types of wood – American and French Oak. This expression begins its journey as a blend of triple distilled single malt and Irish pot still spirit prior to casking. Bottling at a higher ABV eliminates any need for chill filtering - which comes through in the final product. This expression showcases the close relationship between the Walsh family in Ireland’s County Carlow and the Legaret family in Cognac, France - owners of DEAU Cognac and providers of the French Oak casks.
Nose: Dashes of sweet vanilla, notes of cinnamon, plum & poached pear.
Palate: Pressed grapes and citrus zest.
Finish: Chocolate undertones and lingering spice.
