Glenturret

Some have claimed that Glenturret is the oldest distillery in Scotland but that claim does not hold up to serious scrutiny. Originally the site of an illicit still and named The Hosh (Scottish Gaelic for 'foot') licensed distilling only began in 1818. The name was changed to Glenturret in 1875. Surviving through a series of market upturns and downturns (not to mention several different owners) Glenturrent became the home of the Famous Grouse Experience in 2002 (the destination for most of the distillery's output). But in 2018, the distillery was once again sold to the luxury goods company Lalique - effectively ending the relationship. The owners announced in 2020 that a core line of distillery single malts will be coming out.
